Indications: Rxhomeo® Stramonium is a chief remedy for many mental conditions like excitability, delirium tremens, hysteria, loquacity etc. The patient has a disposition to continuous praying, beseeching and entreating. The patient is easily excited by bright object or reflected or dazzling light such as from mirror or flowing water. The patient cannot bear solitude and darkness. Awakes from sleep with shrinking look as if he is much afraid of the object seen. During delirium, the patient gets up and wants to escape and therefore, he runs away and hides himself in a corner, difficult to be located. The patient feels his head is scattered in many pieces. There is also twitching of single or group of muscles during delirium. There is also strange delusions about his own identity. The patient also has a feeling of seeing ghosts, dangerous animals, hears strange voices and he feels he is in communion with spirits.
Stramonium has marked action on sun headache or headache caused by shock or fright. There is intolerable pain in forehead and over the eye brows. Boring pain in forehead and temples. Head feels as if scattered about in many pieces. Pain is worse after sleep, in darkness or looking at bright objects. Headache is preceded by obscure vision.
Stramonium is also indicated in stammering. Mouth is dry, with viscid saliva yet aversion to water with stammering tendency. The patient has to exert a long time before he can utter a word. Cannot swallow on account of spasm of glottis.
